Men's Tennis Set for Two Matches in Two Days

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama men's tennis gets set for two matches in two days beginning Thursday at the Vaughan Tennis Complex against Gulf South Conference foe Auburn-Montgomery at 2 p.m., then on Friday at Alabama-Birmingham beginning at 4 p.m. at the UAB Tennis Courts.

UWA is 7-8 overall and 4-3 in GSC action. AUM is 10-9 overall and 5-2 in GSC play. UAB brings in a 7-13 record into Friday as they host Tennessee Tech at Noon before they play the Tigers. The Blazers are in the NCAA Division I and in the Conference USA.

West Alabama is ranked No. 34 in the latest Division II Men's ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings and AUM is ranked No. 44.

UWA and AUM have both clinched a spot in the GSC Championships. The Tigers were put out of the 2021 GSC Championships by AUM 4-3 last season in the quarterfinals.

Loic Danze is 10-2 in his singles matches this season. Ilari Vesanen is 7-4 in singles at No. 1 and No. 2, he is ranked No. 49 in the ITA Singles Poll.

The doubles team of Lucas Hammond and Marcel Hornung are ranked No. 16 in the ITA Doubles Poll. The duo is 7-2 in matches and 4-1 in conference matches.

AUM's Giovanni Bellio is 9-4 in singles matches and David Rieme is 10-4 in his single matches.

UAB's Michal Lusovsky is 13-6 in his singles matches, all at No. 1.
