Women's Tennis Sweeps Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – West Alabama women's tennis finished the Gulf South Conference regular season with a win against Montevallo by a final score of 7-0 to finish the regular season 10-0 in GSC action. 
 
West Alabama improves to 16-4 overall and a perfect 10-0 GSC record and Montevallo falls to 9-8 and 6-4. 
 
The Tigers swept singles matches and won two of the three doubles matches. 
 
Haina Franco and Katia de la Garza defeated Cyba Ozzor and Mireia Turro 7-5. Almudena Sanz and Irawan Deewajee won at No. 2 doubles 6-2 against Isabelle Barfoot and Eva Dirr. 
 
Sanz won at No. 1 singles against Turro 7-6, 6-2. Haina Franco won 7-6, 6-3 against Ozzor at No. 2 singles. 
 
Garza fell in her first set 2-6 and bounced back to win the last two sets 6-2, 6-1. Deewajee defeated Dirr 7-6, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. 
 
The last two courts UWA took with Heden Ly winning No. 5 against Barfoot 7-5, 6-0. Hardija Vidnere won No. 6 singles against Lieselott Hartlohner 6-3, 6-2. 
 
The Tigers will return to the Vaughan Tennis Complex on Thursday at Noon for senior day against Georgia Gwinnett in an exhibition match.
