Tusculum Defeats UWA 3-2 in Women's Soccer

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – West Alabama's women's soccer team took a 3-2 loss at Tusculum in a nonconference game on Friday afternoon at Pioneer Field on the campus of Tusculum.
 
The Tigers fall to 1-2 on the year and Tusculum improves to 3-0.
 
Tusculum struck first in the second minute with a goal from Taylor Youmans. The Tigers responded quickly, when Mikayla Anderson scored a goal in the fifth minute of the contest.
 
Sierra O'Grady put the Tigers up 2-1 when she found the back of the net in the 32nd minute off an assist by Dana Cruz. Neither team scored in the remaining 13 minutes of the first half.
 
Tusculum's Brianna Garcia scored back-to-back goals in the 50th and 52nd minute to give Tusculum a 3-2 lead.
 
All three Tusculum goals were off assists by Garcia, Youmans, and Rosy Wodhams for Tusculum.
 
Graduate senior Maria Mon, earned six saves during the game for West Alabama. Tusculum's Grayson Patterson had two saves.
 
West Alabama took nine shots with four on target. Tusculum attempted 13 shots and nine were on goal.
 
The game featured 24 total fouls with 10 on UWA and 14 on Tusculum. The Pioneers were issued two yellow cards.

West Alabama kicks off Gulf South Conference play against Spring Hill on Friday when Spring Hill visits Tiger Stadium at 7 p.m.
