MOBILE, Ala.- The University of West Alabama Women's Soccer team defeated the Badgers of Spring Hill College in full time by a score of 2-1 in Mobile.
West Alabama took two shots on goal in the early running courtesy of Emily Djabare and Aileen Charles but were both saved by the Badgers' Carlotta Stark to keep the women off the board.
The Tigers broke the scoring silence first in the 41st minute of the match courtesy of Venla Makela, setting up West Alabama with a 1-0 lead going into the half.
West Alabama hit the back of the net once again early into the second half with a goal by Aileen Charles unassisted, giving the Tigers a commanding 2-0 lead.
Spring Hill answered back in the 68th minute courtesy of a solo shot from the Badgers' Poppy Binding.
West Alabama's defense wouldn't give another inch to the Badgers, however as Dior Wilson saved the only remaining shot on goal from Spring Hill.
West Alabama moves to 6-8-2 overall and 6-6-1 in GSC play as they clinch the final spot in the GSC Tournament. The opponent and location are TBA.
