LIVINGSTON, Ala.- The University of West Alabama women's soccer team is set to travel to Huntsville this Thursday to take on Montevallo in the GSC Semifinals.
The Tigers are coming off a massive upset victory over number one seed and nationally ranked West Florida thanks to a 107th minute go ahead score courtesy of Aileen Charles.
"So much credit to our defense in that one. Dior having 11 saves was incredible, but Lucy Horn and the rest of our backend made crucial plays to keep West Florida off the board and keep us in the game." said Sam Wilson in his pre-trip interview on Tuesday afternoon.
The women look to keep their Cinderella run going as they take on the Falcons on Montevallo in the Conference semifinals. Coach Wilson once again stated it is hard to be a team twice, "I think for us it is about being the best version of ourselves, we must play tough and play our game. Montevallo is a talented team."
Montevallo comes into the matchup with an 11-4-3 record overall and a 7-3-3 GSC record, finishing as the 4 seed in the GSC. The Falcon's Kaeri Ward was chosen as a 2nd Team All-GSC selection as a midfielder after a stellar season.
Kickoff for the Tigers and Falcons matchup is set for 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 9th in Huntsville at John Hunt Park. Streaming on FloSports and live stats will be available via link on uwaathletics.com/live.
