Men’s Tennis Defeats Georgia College in a Non-Conference Match

PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Alabama men's tennis team defeated No. 17 Georgia College, 4-3, in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon at Ralph "Skeeter" Carson Tennis Complex.

"This was a hard-fought win against a top 25 team," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "It is going to be a battle again tomorrow for the men and women with North Georgia's women ranked No. 6 and men ranked No. 27."

The Tigers are 7-4 overall and 4-2 in conference. The Bobcats are 6-4 overall.

In doubles play, Lucas Hammond and Wilson Igbinovia defeated GC's Gabe Cizek and Luka Sauer 6-1 on court No. 1. Ilari Vesanen and Ilia Dehodiuk defeated GC's Masuimi Komada and Sebastian Nunez 6-4 on court No. 2, clinching the doubles point for the Tigers. Nuutti Jokinen and Loic Danze fought hard but were defeated by Karol Malirz and Enzo Sergi 7-6 on court No. 3.

In singles play, Hammond defeated GC's Luka Sauer 6-0, 6-0 on court No. 5. Dehodiuk defeated GC's Enzo Sergi 6-2, 6-0 on court No. 6. Danze was defeated on court No. 4 by GC's Masumi Komada 6-3, 6-3. Igbinovia clinced the overall point for the Tigers on court No. 3, by defeating GC's Jorge Robinson 6-4, 7-5. Vesanen was defeated by GC's Gabe Cizek 6-7, 7-5, 7-0 on court No. 1. Jokinen was defeated on court No. 2 6-0, 6-7, 6-3 by GC's Karol Malirz.
