Men’s Tennis Defeats FSU Monday Afternoon

LAKELAND, Fla. – West Alabama men's tennis team defeated Florida Southern in a non-conference match, 4-3, Monday afternoon at Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
 
"A tough comeback win today for the men," head coach Jeff Beaman said. "The match was full of momentum shifts and could have gone either way."

The Tigers improve to 10-6 overall. The Mocs fall to 13-5 overall.

 
In doubles play, Lucas Hammond and Marcel Hornung swept FSU's Matteo Feggi and Chris Fok Kow on court No. 1, 6-0. Wilson Igbinovia and Nuutti Jokinen defeated FSU's John Gidefjord and Danny Thomas on court No. 3, 6-3. Ilari Vesanen and Ilia Dehodiuk went unfinished on court No. 2.
 
In singles play, Jokinen was defeated on court No. 2 by FSU's Inaki Braun Simo, 7-5, 6-4. On court No. 6, Dehodiuk was defeated by FSU's Elliot Altman, 6-2, 6-3. Loic Danze defeated FSU' Alex Fascio on court No. 4, 6-3, 6-2. Hornung was defeated by FSU's Chris Fok Kow on court No. 1, 6-1,, 6-3, 6-1. Igbinovia defeated FSU's Mario Garoz on court No. 3 in a three-set battle, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3. Hammond clinched the overall win for the Tigers, defeating FSU's John Gidefjord on court No. 5, 6-7, 6-2, 6-3.
