Women’s Tennis Falls to Nova Southeastern Tuesday Afternoon

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – West Alabama women's tennis team fell to Nova Southeastern Tuesday afternoon, 5-2 in a non-conference match.
 
"We competed well at spots against a great team on their home courts," head coach Jeff Beaman said.
 
The Tigers fall to 16-2. The Sharks improve to 13-2 overall.

In doubles play, Haina Franco and Ming Deewajee were defeated 6-4, on court No. 1 by NSU's Fatima Bizhukova and Natalie Espinal. The Takanishi sisters fell to NSU's Eva Goncharov and Diane Follin-Arbelet on court No. 2. Hardija Vidnere and Heden Ly went unfinished on court No. 3.

In singles play, Franco defeated NSU's Julie Razafindranaly on court No. 1, 6-3, 6-1. Yurie Takanishi fell to NSU's Natalie Espinal, on court No. 2, 6-2, 6-3. On court No. 3, Ly was defeated by NSU's Karolina Snita, 6-1, 6-0. Vidnere was defeated by NSU's Fatima Bizhukova on court No. 4, 6-1, 6-2. Emiri Takanishi was defeated in a three-set battle by NSU's Diane Follin-Arbelet on court No. 5, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0.  Deewajee defeated NSU's Eva Goncharov on court No. 6, 6-4, 6-2.
 
"I set this trip to replicate playing in the national championships which will be in Florida this year with four tough matches, in a span of five days," Beaman said. "Each team we will play can win a National Championship, so this pushes us and lets us see what we need to work on going into the end of the season mentally, physically, and what we need with active rest."

The Tigers return to the court on Wednesday for a non-conference match against Keiser. The first serve is set for noon at USTA Tennis Complex, in Boca Raton, Florida.
