CLINTON, Miss. – The University of West Alabama women's soccer team lost a tough 1-0 match on the road to Mississippi College on Friday afternoon.
Mississippi College (6-2-3, 2-2-3 GSC) took control of the match early, registering 11 shots in the first half compared to West Alabama's (1-3-2, 0-2-2 GSC) single shot. The decisive moment came in the 36th minute when Vail Wartes scored the lone goal of the game for the Choctaws, assisted by Parker St. Amant and Paula Catalan.
Despite a stronger showing in the second half, West Alabama's offense could not find the back of the net. The Tigers managed three more shots in the second half, with
Aileen Charles and
Laila Hepworth putting pressure on the Mississippi College defense. However, Choctaws' goalkeeper Jessi Carro stood firm, making three saves to keep her clean sheet.

Dior Wilson made five saves to keep the Tigers within striking distance, but the Mississippi College defense held strong to close out the match.
The Tigers will look to rebound as they travel to Delta State for their next GSC matchup on Sunday, October 20th, at 1 p.m.
