TYLER, Texas - The No. 23 University of West Alabama men's tennis team was defeated by the University of Texas at Tyler 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers struggled in their doubles outing, dropping two of three outings, capped off by a dominant 6-1 decision in the second outing by Texas Tyler's Joaquin Bianchi and Forkane Lebdi over Vilislav Bonev and Wilson Igbinovia.
Lucas Hammond took the lone UWA singles victory over Bianchi, 6-4, 6-1.
"The men played a lot better today against a very good team. We need to keep learning from these matches," said head coach Jeff Beaman.
West Alabama falls to 1-5 overall, while Texas Tyler advances to 6-1.
UWA will conclude its Texas road trip with a match with Cameron on Sunday morning in Tyler, Texas. First serve is set for 10 a.m.
