Box Score CLINTON, Miss. - The University of West Alabama men's tennis team fell to No. 27 Mississippi College in their final regular season match, 6-1, Thursday afternoon.
Despite the Choctaws clinching the doubles point in the No. 1 and No. 3 flights, Wilson Igbinovia and Eita Ishikawa (5-4) got the 6-4 win over Antoine Nivault and Diego De Cooman in the No. 2 spot.
MC was a force to be reckoned with in singles, taking all but two singles matches in straight sets.
Igbinovia denied Mississippi College the sweep, taking down Rafael Sabio in the No. 2 spot in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3.
Nuutti Jokinen took Joe Jarvis down to the wire in the fourth flight, with Jarvis taking a narrow 7-5 victory in set three to clinch the point.
West Alabama ends the regular season to 7-12 overall and 4-5 in Gulf South Conference play.
Mississippi College advanced to 11-9 and 6-3.
The Tigers will travel to Montgomery next on Saturday, April 27 for the opening round of the Gulf South Conference Championship. UWA's opponent will be announced by the league office early next week.
