LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama men's tennis team defeated the University of Montevallo in dominant fashion, 7-0, at the Vaughan Tennis Complex.
The Tigers took the doubles point in the No. 2 flight as Wilson Igbinovia and Eita Ishikawa defeated Garbiel Variano and Sam Parsons, 7-6, via a 7-4 tiebreak.
West Alabama dominated in singles, taking all but one flight in two sets as Vilislav Bonev defeated Vitorio Noli 6-4, 6-7 (8), 10-7 at the No. 3 slot.
"The team competed well today. We went into the match with the right mindset and had an excellent day on our home courts," said assistant coach Jose Bendeck.
UWA moves to 5-9 overall and 3-2 in Gulf South Conference play. Montevallo falls to 7-9 and 3-4.
The men will return to action on Thursday in Livingston as they take on the Bucs of Christian Brothers. The first serve is set for 1 p.m.
