CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The University of West Alabama softball team fell to Lee University in the final contest of the weekend series, 7-4, Sunday afternoon at Butler Field.
The Flames struck first with a Hailey Simco solo home run in the bottom of the first.
Alyson Jarvi extended the Lee advantage to 3-0 with a two-run shot in the second inning.
West Alabama was able to get on the board with an Ann Marie Stanbridge RBI single in the top of the third.
Rylie Goodridge stretched the home team's lead back out to three runs in the bottom of the frame with another solo homer.
UWA closed the gap to two runs once again with a Mary Grace Sheffield solo rocket over the left field wall in the fourth.
The Tigers worked around a lead off double from Ashley Fields to put a zero in the bottom of the fourth.
Riley Sullivan tied up the contest at four runs with a two-run homer in the top of the fifth.
Despite a leadoff bunt single from Haley Shannon in the sixth, the freshman was left stranded on third.
Unfortunately, the Tigers' hope was quickly put to rest by a pair of home runs from Javaria Smith and Laney Harris in the bottom of the inning to give Lee the 7-4 lead.
In the seventh, The Tigers loaded the bases with three walks, but Olivia Tyson struck out the final batter to seal the win for Lee.
Riley Sullivan led the way for UWA with two RBIs and a home run on the day.
Depite the Sunday loss, the Tigers still took the series win after its doubleheahder win over the Flames on Saturday.
West Alabama falls to 25-14 overall and 12-12 in Gulf South Conference play. Lee moves to 14-21 and 8-12.
The Tigers will travel to Columbus, Georgia on Thursday on take on Columbus State in a non-conference doubleheader. The first pitch is set for 2 p.m. CDT.
