Softball’s Postseason Run Ends in Tight Battle with UAH

CLINTON, Miss. - The University of West Alabama softball team saw its 2024 season come to end, as they were defeated by the University of Alabama in Huntsville in the NCAA South Region, 2-1, from the Mississippi College Softball Complex on Friday afternoon.

Madison Wright and Katie Bracken started the contest in an exchange of blows in the circle, allowing no runs through three and a half innings.

Taylor Clegg got the Tigers on the board first in an explosive way with a solo shot over the left field wall in the fourth inning.

The Chargers answered back with two runs in the top of the sixth. A Jada Henderson RBI double and a Kaylee Vaught sacrifice fly gave UAH the 2-1 lead.

UAH (40-17) held the UWA offense in the two innings to take the elimination game victory and will face Tampa in the region semifinal Friday evening.

Taylor Clegg led the way with a her ninth solo home run of the season.

Emily Cowart, Riley Sullivan and Ann Marie Stanbridge all recorded hits for the Tigers in the setback.
