LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The University of West Alabama Women's Basketball team will head to Authur R. Outlaw Recreation Center (Mobile, Ala.) for the SIAC-GSC Crossover, hosted by Spring Hill College (Ala.). This will be the first tournament of the season with their first matchup on Friday, November 14 against Spring Hill College at 5:30 p.m. CST and a second matchup on the following day against Clark Atlanta University at 1 p.m. CST.
The SIAC-GSC Crossover is a multi-team tournament that gives programs a chance to test themselves outside of conference play early in the season. West Alabama competed in the SIAC-GSC Crossover hosted by the University of West Georgia two seasons ago resulting in a split with a win of 61-52 against Albany State University and a loss of 55-59 against Tuskegee University.
This season, coming from the astonishing comeback and win (62-59) against the UAB Blazers in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the Tigers carry undeniable momentum and a fighting spirit into Friday and Saturday's matchups. With Bellah Machen setting the pace for the Tigers, shooting 70% from the field and 66% from three, and Haley Nichols cleaning up with nine rebounds, the Tigers are ready to make another statement on the road again.
Spring Hill College will open their season against the Tigers on Friday, Nov. 14th. The Badgers return seven players from last year's roster, which finished 8–20 overall and 6–13 in conference play. With a more experienced core and home-court advantage, they'll look to set a stronger tone early as they begin tournament play.
Clark Atlanta University comes into the tournament following a standout 2024–25 season, where they posted a 24–8 overall record and went 15–4 in SIAC play. Despite returning just two players from that roster, the Panthers have already tested their new lineup in two preseason scrimmages, giving them a chance to build chemistry ahead of tournament action.
Tipoff for Friday's matchup against Spring Hill College is set for 5:30 p.m. CST from the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center while Saturday's matchup against Clark Atlanta University is set for 1 p.m. CST.
