LIVINGSTON, Ala. - After another undefeated run through the Gulf South Conference in 2025, the University of West Alabama Women's Tennis Head Coach Jeff Beaman was named the ITA South Region Coach of the Year on Tuesday.
Beaman adds an ITA Region Coach of the Year accolade to his sixth consecutive GSC Coach of the Year honor that he claimed earlier this Spring.
"This recognition belongs to all of the members of this team and the many behind the scenes people who made what we accomplished possible," said Beaman. "I would like to give special thanks to the coaching staff of Zé Oliveira, Katie Brown, Jared Pierce, and combo coach and athletic trainer Adam Stone."
Beaman's legacy continues to grow at West Alabama as the 10-year Head Coach at UWA put together one of the best seasons of his career in 2025. Under Beaman's tutelage, the Tigers went a perfect 8-0 in conference play to secure the program's sixth consecutive GSC Regular Season title and improve their GSC win streak to 64.
After losing All-American Khim Iglupas this past offseason, the Head Coach retooled, putting together another stellar roster. Beaman went out and secured the recruitment of Alexa Milliam, who turned in one of the greatest individual seasons in West Alabama Tennis history. Under Beaman's watchful eye, the true freshman went a perfect 19-0 in singles play and 16-3 in doubles, filling in for Iglupas perfectly. Along with Milliam's ascension, Shaira Rivera and Valentina Mutilba became the best doubles duo in the country as the tandem captured the ITA National Championship in the fall and held their number one ranking throughout the entire spring season.
To conclude the year, the Tigers made another trip to the NCAA Tournament and picked up a win over Lee before their season came to an end at the hands of the defending National Champions, Nova Southeastern.
