Tigers Earn Sixth Consecutive Win with 3-2 Victory over Trojans in Series Opener

LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The University of West Alabama Softball team secured a narrow 3-2 victory over Trevecca Nazarene at the UWA Softball Complex on Thursday to extend their winning streak to six.

UWA (24-7-1, 15-4 GSC) was propelled by a key RBI-triple in the third inning by Jessica Rose who later scored on a wild pitch to account for two of West Alabama's three runs. On the mound, Eleanor De Block held TNU (11-12, 7-12 GSC) to five hits and held off a late offensive surge to clinch a one-run victory for the Tigers.

West Alabama opened up the scoring in the third inning. Trinity Brooks initiated a scoring opportunity with a single to third base, followed by Rose hitting a triple down the right field line, allowing Brooks to score. Rose then scored on a wild pitch, giving UWA a 2-0 lead by the end of the inning.

After being held off the board for five innings, the Trojans responded in the sixth inning when Sarah Kinderdine hit a two-run home run to left field, bringing the score to a tense 2-2 tie.

The Tigers regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Trinity Hatcher singled, stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball, before scoring on Ann Marie Stanbridge's sacrifice fly.

Holding a one-run lead in the seventh, De Block went back into the circle to close things out. The Trojans threatened as they had runners on first and second, the Tigers' ace dodged out of trouble to secure a 3-2 win.

Hatcher posted a strong performance with two stolen bases, one hit, and one run scored, contributing significantly to the team's offensive efforts. Rose delivered with a triple, securing both a hit and an RBI while crossing home plate once. De Block pitched a complete game, allowing two earned runs over 7 innings and striking out two batters.

West Alabama and Trevecca Nazarene will conclude their series with a doubleheader on Friday that's set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
