TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis team advanced to the GSC Semifinals with a 4-0 sweep over sixth seeded AUM on Thursday.
UWA (19-4, 5-2 GSC) dominated the match against AUM (6-13, 3-5 GSC) to move on to the GSC Semifinals.
The Tigers took a 1-0 lead, with the doubles duo of Shaira Rivera/Alexa Milliam and Valentina Mutilba/Jenaila Prulla winning their matches, 6-1.
In singles action, Prulla defeated the Warhawks' Ana Clara Campigotto in straight sets, (6-2, 6-1) on Line Five. Nanoka Kazama did the same on Line six, taking a (6-2, 6-1) decision over Valeria Garcia.
Mutilba clinched the match for West Alabama on Line Three as the junior earned a (6-3, 6-1) victory over Mercedes Cid Garcia.
With the win, West Alabama will now play No. 2 West Florida in the GSC Semifinals on Friday at 2:30 p.m. CST.
