LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis team continued their impress 2026 campaign with a 7-0 sweep over Lee while the Men's team fell to the ninth ranked Flames, 4-3.
West Alabama's fifth ranked Women's team moved to 13-3 on the year and 3-1 in conference play while Lee's Women's squad fell to 7-5 and 2-4 in the GSC. UWA's 17th ranked Men's Tennis fall to 11-5 and 3-2 in league play.
WEST ALABAMA WOMEN'S TEAM
The Tigers opened up the match, by winning the doubles point. Shaira Rivera/Alexa Milliam and Valentina Mutilba/Jenaila Prulla both won their matches, 6-2.
Now leading 1-0, West Alabama swept singles play. On Line One, Rivera handled Yoshida Rima, (6-3, 6-1) while Milliam secured a (7-6, 6-4) victory on Line Two. Mutilba also picked up a win in straight sets, winning (7-6, 6-1). Freshman standout Jian Ibrahim showcased her grit in a three-set win, (6-1, 4-6, 1-0) over Victoria Maximiliano.
On Line Five, Prulla took care of her competition, (6-3, 6-2) while Kazama rounded out the Tigers with a (6-3, 6-4) victory on Line Six.
WEST ALABAMA MEN'S TENNIS
UWA fell in doubles to begin the match, trailing 1-0 as the match progressed to singles.
The Tigers won on Lines One-Three in singles with Gabriel Garay, Jacob Tapia, and Afonso Portugal all picking up victories. Defeats on Lines Four-Six would be the back breaker for West Alabama as they fell, 4-3.
The Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Mississippi College for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
