LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The University of West Alabama Softball team fell to Mississippi College, 2-0 in the regular season finale on Saturday.
Mississippi College (29-21-1, 19-14 GSC) scored both of its runs in the fourth inning, highlighted by a home run and a double, while West Alabama (39-12-1, 24-9 GSC) was held to just one hit throughout the game.
Eleanor De Block was outstanding for UWA once again, going the distance while only allowing two runs in three hits. De Block collected five strikeouts, moving her season total to a career-high 153.
The fourth inning proved pivotal when Shelby Samples doubled to right center before Blakely Gill hit a go-ahead two-run home run to left field, putting the Choctaws up 2-0 for good.
The remaining innings saw strong defensive plays from both teams, with no additional runs scored. The Tigers managed a hit when Jessica Rose singled down the left field line in the third inning, but it could not capitalize.
West Alabama now turns their attention to the GSC Tournament with the action set to begin on Wednesday, May 6.
