LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Tennis program were recognized for their academic brilliance by the ITA on Tuesday as the program collected a total of 13 ITA Academic awards.
Both UWA's Women's and Men's tennis teams earned the status of ITA All-Academic, by accumulating team GPAs over the 3.2 threshold. West Alabama's Women's team recorded a Team GPA of 3.44 while the Men's squad earned a 3.34 GPA.
Individually, a total of 11 Tiger Tennis Student-Athletes were named ITA Scholar Athletes, by earning a 3.5 GPA or higher throughout the fall and spring semester.
"It is great to see the player's academic achievements as that is what they are here for," said head coach Jeff Beaman. "Very few college athletes make a living as a pro in their sport, so getting an education is very important."
