LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women's soccer team returns home Wednesday afternoon when the Tigers host Delta State in Gulf South Conference action at 5 p.m. at the UWA Soccer Field.
West Alabama enters Wednesday's matchup with a 1-5-0 overall record and a 0-3-0 mark in GSC play. The Tigers are looking to bounce back after dropping their last three conference contests.
Tigers' Offense
The Tigers have recorded two goals through six matches this season, with Allie Kimbrell and Campbell Wysong each finding the back of the net once.
Kimbrell leads the Tigers with two points, recording one goal on two shots, including one shot on goal. Wysong has also scored once, converting her lone shot and shot on goal of the season.
Kya Jacobs continues to lead UWA in offensive opportunities with 13 shots and eight shots on goal. Sofia Lacey follows with eight shots and three shots on goal, while Mikaela Carpino has seven shots and four shots on goal.
Overall, the Tigers have taken 54 shots, placing 25 on target for a .463 shots-on-goal percentage.
Between the Pipes
Yumari Hernandez has started all six matches in goal for the Tigers, playing all 540 minutes. She has recorded 40 saves while posting a .755 save percentage and a 2.17 goals-against average.
Hernandez has helped UWA record one shutout this season.
Scouting Delta State
Delta State enters Wednesday's contest with a 2-3-2 overall record and a 1-1-1 mark in conference play.
The Statesmen have scored 12 goals through seven matches, led by Caroline Chandler and Millie Congerton with two goals apiece. Avery Hooker has also scored twice, while Emma Earwood has one goal and a team-high three assists.
Chandler leads Delta State with 10 shots and six shots on goal, while Kennedi Turner has taken a team-high 14 shots and placed six on target.
The Statesmen have recorded 93 shots with 45 on goal this season.
Kim Bircher has started five matches in goal for Delta State, recording 41 saves with a .820 save percentage and a 1.66 goals-against average. Piper Burgess has appeared in two matches and recorded 18 saves with a .857 save percentage.
Series History
Wednesday marks the 16th meeting between West Alabama and Delta State. The Tigers lead the all-time series 10-4-1 and hold an 8-1-1 advantage when the matchup is played in Livingston.
West Alabama won both meetings against the Statesmen last season, earning a 1-0 regular-season victory before defeating Delta State 2-1 in the GSC Tournament.
The Tigers remain on the road Saturday, Sept. 26, traveling to Spring Hill for a GSC matchup scheduled for 1 p.m.
