The University of West Alabama Athletic Department named Darrell Redden Jr., a native of Kathleen, Georgia, the Director of Athletic Communications in September of 2024.
Before landing in Livingston with the Tigers, Redden Jr. served as the Assistant Sports Information Director for the University of West Georgia from August 2022-September 2024. In that role, Redden Jr. was the Primary Contact for Volleyball, Men's Basketball, and Baseball while serving as the Secondary Contact for a number of sports including Football. Redden Jr. provided coverage for the UWG Men's Basketball team that made appearances in the 2023 and 2024 NCAA Tournament along with winning the Gulf South Conference Championship in 2024.
Before becoming a full-time member of the UWG Sports Information staff, Redden Jr. got his start in the industry as an Intern with the Wolves under Matt Cooke and Jared Boggus in January 2021. Seven months later, Redden Jr. was promoted to a Graduate Assistant in the department where he held that position for a year before being promoted to full-time as the Assistant Sports Information Director.
Redden Jr. holds a Bachelor's of Science in Sport Management from the University of West Georgia, which he obtained in May 2021, before securing his Master's of Science in Sport Management in May 2023.
