JoAnna Simon is a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She joins the UWA staff as an athletic trainer and instructor. Prior to arriving at UWA, she was an assistant athletic trainer at Oberlin College where her primary responsibilities were football, swimming and dive, men’s and women’s tennis, and supervising student aide workers.
She holds a Master of Education in athletic administration and coaching from Alcorn State University, a Bachelor of Science in athletic training from Troy University and is currently working on her Doctor of Athletic Training from A.T Still University. She has also obtained certifications in performance enhancement, nutrition, drying needling, and myofascial decompression.
She has had the opportunity to shadow physicians, physical therapists, and athletic trainers with the Cleveland Browns organization and worked closely with the team physicians during her time at Oberlin College in Oberlin, OH.
JoAnna enjoys spending time with her family, being involved with her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, and her church. She has returned home to Tuscaloosa where she resides with her daughter, Marleigh.
