John Weldy is from Hattiesburg, MS and received his B.A. Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Mississippi. He matriculated at the University of Mississippi Medical Center where he obtained his medical degree and furthered his education at Tulane University in New Orleans, LA where he trained under Dr. Felix H. Savoie and completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery. He is now completing his Fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) in Birmingham, AL under the leadership of Drs. Cain, Dugas, and Emblom. Dr. Weldy has a passion for participating in the care of and treating athletes and is looking forward to working with the faculty and staff at the University of West Alabama to provide the best care to their athletic teams. In addition to his professional endeavors, Dr. Weldy enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including baseball, football, and snowboarding, as well as spending time with his wife and family.
