Will Atkinson

Along with being the Director of Student Advocacy on campus, Atkinson is also the Audio Voice of the Tigers. Atkinson has been the Play-by-Play announcer for UWA Athletics for a number of years, being on the call for a plethora of sports, including Football, Volleyball, Men's and Women's Basketball, and Baseball. With FloSports and the Gulf South Conference agreeing to a deal back in 2020, Atkinson has been on the call for numerous FloSports Broadcasts along with an ESPN+ appearance for West Alabama's Football Playoff game against Lenoir-Rhyne on November 23, 2024.

Before becoming the Voice of the Tigers, Atkinson served as the Universities Head Softball coach from 2007-2016, amassing a 273-216 overall record. Under Atkinson's leadership, UWA made three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances from 2011-2013, including the Program's first ever NCAA South Regional Championship in 2011.

Over his 15-year head coaching career, Atkinson amassed over 400 career victories and was named the Mid-South Conference Coach of the Year in 2005. Off the diamond, Atkinson was inducted into the Bob Jones High School Hall of Fame in 2013 and was honored with the Loraine Mcllwain Bell Professional Staff Excellence Award in 2020 here at the University of West Alabama.
