Kent Partridge assumed the duties of the University of West Alabama's Director of Athletics on June 1, 2021 after serving 10 years handling athletic communications at his alma mater. On June 1, 2024, Partridge retired from the role after a 40-year career in athletics.
Partridge was named Deputy Athletic Director in February 2019, and in addition to duties in sports communications, he was also the sport administrator for Tiger football, baseball and men's basketball under Wallace.
A member of the UWA Athletics Hall of Fame, Partridge brings 35 years of athletic administration experience to the Tiger athletic department.
Partridge serves on the UWA President's Council, the University Marketing Committee and the UWA Athletics Hall of Fame Committee, as well as the Gulf South Conference Joint Administrators and Hall of Fame Committee. He also serves on the UWA Athletic Committee, Parking and Traffic Committee, the Homecoming Committee, Orientation Committee, as well as the Scholarship and Student Assistance Committee.
He also has vast experience in communications, marketing and event management as well as working in print media. His work in the daily newspaper field had him covering beats that included University of Alabama football and Mississippi State baseball, as well as writing a column and working in layout and design. He also worked for the Charleston Post and Courier covering minor league baseball.
Partridge worked six years for the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a Vice President for Communications, as well as serving as a public relations consultant with the Utah Jazz of the NBA. Part of his responsibilities in the NBA was serving as coordinating producer between ESPN and NBA TV for a 16-episode all-access documentary on the North Charleston Lowgators of the NBA G League,as well as ghost writing a weekly column for NBA Hall of Famer Alex English.
Prior to his time in the NBA, Partridge was the director of public relations with the Birmingham Thunderbolts of the XFL, which was owned and operated by NBC and the World Wrestling and Entertainment (WWE).
Partridge is a veteran of collegiate athletics, having directed athletic communications operations at Auburn University, Texas Tech University, Samford University and the University of Montevallo.
He has been the radio play-by-play voice for West Alabama baseball for the last eight years. Partridge was the radio play-by-play voice for UWA men and women's basketball as a student at UWA.
A Birmingham, Alabama native, Partridge graduated from UWA in 1983 with a bachelor of science degree in HPER and Journalism. He is married to Teresa and has one daughter, Courtney, who is the art teacher for both Leeds Primary and Elementary Schools in Leeds, Alabama.
He and Teresa, who is business manager for BBY Publications on the UWA campus, also stay busy sharing their lives with wonder dog Maggie and doing their very best to spoil their grand baby, Charlotte Blair "Charlie" Partridge.
