LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team secured its third-straight 20-plus win season with a 3-0 sweep of UAH in Gulf South Conference East Division action.
The Tigers (20-5, 5-0 GSC) extended their GSC-best win streak to 11 matches with the sweep. UWA also remained perfect in the GSC East with a 5-0 mark. The Red and White needed just over an hour to dispose of the Chargers (7-19, 1-4 GSC) 25-14, 25-17 and 25-13.
UWA used a balanced attack offensively and were paced by junior Thais Hollerbach, who nailed a match-high nine kills. Hollerbach also posted 13 digs in the affair. A trio of Tigers turned in seven kills each – Jessica Crook, Ana Gabriela Pedrosa and Brittney Cousin. Crook received GSC East Division Offensive Player of the Week honors earlier in the day for her efforts last week. As a team, UWA was credited with seven service aces. Alexis McHale and Casey Byrnes tallied three aces each. The Tigers took advantage of UAH's .031 attacking percentage along with carding a .289 mark.
