UWA Falls On The Road At Florida Southern

LAKELAND, Fla. – Kicking off perhaps its toughest two-day stretch of the 2010 season, the University of West Alabama volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Florida Southern at the 2010 South Region Crossover hosted by FSC. The Tigers fall to 7-13 on the season while the Mocs improves to 16-4.

Southern took the match by winning with scores of 25-11, 25-14, and 25-20 as the hosts outhit UWA by a .347 to .093 margin for the contest.

Leading the charge offensively for the Red and White was Thais Hollerbach who notched nine kills on the evening while also racking up 12 digs to pace the squad defensively as well.

Myeasha Williams featured the team's best hitting percentage as she hit at a .250 clip with five kills and just one error on 16 swings, while Alexis McHale's 22 assists was tops among all players in the contest.
The Mocs' Ashley Martin led all players in the match with 15 kills, and she recorded a blazing .636 hitting percentage as she registered just one error in 22 attempts. Anne Niebuhr led all players with 16 digs.

West Alabama will continue play in Lakeland on Saturday against Lynn at noon, and the Tigers wrap up with No. 3 Tampa at 5 p.m. Live stats and video are scheduled to be available at www.fscmocs.com.
