LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team will wrap up its 2010 home slate as it welcomes the University of Alabama in Huntsville for a 7 p.m. match at Pruitt Hall on Tuesday night. The contest will mark the final home match for senior Thais Hollerbach.
UWA enters the night with a 9-19 overall mark including a 1-7 record in Gulf South Conference play, and the Tigers need a win to keep their conference tournament hopes alive as a UAH victory would eliminate the Red and White from postseason contention. The Chargers sit at 10-23 and 2-6 in GSC play.
The two teams played to a thrilling five-set decision for the Chargers on Sept. 21. In that contest, Hollerbach notched a double-double by hitting at an impressive .429 clip en route to collecting 14 kills to go along with 18 digs.
In just two seasons in Livingston, Hollerbach has etched her name into the UWA record books in several categories. For her career, the Porto Alegre, Brazil native is ranked first in both serve percentage (.947) and reception percentage (.951) while her 3.39 career digs per set is good for fourth all-time.
The senior also has two of the best seasons in program history in serve percentage as her current .968 mark ranks first and her 2009 .931 performance is good for fourth.
