UWA Volleyball Set for West Georgia Crossover

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Hitting the road once again, the University of West Alabama volleyball team (14-7, 4-3 GSC) heads to Carrolton, Ga., this weekend for the 2011 West Georgia Crossover.

The Tigers will play three matches in two days, facing off with Florida Tech on Friday before going against Rollins College and Barry on Saturday. The match with Tech is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start Friday afternoon, while the Red and White start play on the second day at 11:30 a.m.

UWA enters the weekend after snapping a three-match losing skid Tuesday night against Loyola (La.). In that contest, UWA ran away in the first set, before Loyola put up a strong fight in the final three to put the score at 3-1 in the Tigers' favor.

The Red and White are led by senior Angela Sanders, who has 227 kills on the year. Teammate Chanel Davis holds the team-lead with a .370 hitting percentage, while senior Casey Byrnes has accounted for 269 digs.

Following play this weekend, the Tigers return home to face the University of Alabama at Huntsville Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
