LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team (13-5, 4-1 GSC) looks to rebound from a mid-week loss at Montevallo as the team hits the road once again for a pair of weekend contests.
UWA heads to Memphis, Tenn., to take on Christian Brothers on Friday at 7 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. meeting with North Alabama on Saturday in Florence, Ala.
The Tigers enter the weekend coming off a tough loss on the road to Montevallo. In that contest, the Red and White could not rebound from a tight first-set defeat, losing to the Falcons, 3-0.
Head Coach Tabitha Turner's team currently sits in a tie for second place with UNA in the Gulf South Conference standings, just behind West Florida, who is undefeated in conference play. The Tigers are led offensively by
Angela Sanders who has a team-high 210 kills on the year. Meanwhile, junior
Chanel Davis has also had a strong season with 150 kills and a .383 hitting percentage.
Christian Brothers enters Friday's match with a 15-4 overall record coming off a mid-week win over Bethel. In that match, Kaitlin Keathley hit a .619 clip for the seventh-best hitting percentage in CBU history.
When UWA clashes with the North Alabama on Saturday, the Tigers will go against a strong UNA team that currently sits in a tie with the Red and White for second place in the GSC. The Lions moved to 14-3 overall after surviving a tough Alabama-Huntsville team on Tuesday night.
Following play this weekend, West Alabama travels to New Orleans, La., to face with Loyola (La.) Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
