MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team (13-6, 4-2 GSC) ran into a tough Christian Brothers squad Friday night, losing to the Lady Buccaneers by a score of 3-0.
UWA was able to play each set close, with the largest margin of defeat coming in a 25-19 loss in the third game. In both the first and the second, the Tigers had opportunities to take the set but fell in the first, 25-21, and in the second, 25-20.
Christian Brothers picked up a strong performance once again from Kaitlin Keathley who had nine kills on the night for a .412 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, UWA was unable to have a player go over the .300 clip.
Defensively,
Casey Byrnes led the team with 11 digs; while
Chanel Davis put up a game-high four blocks to help the Tigers lead in that category.
The Tigers look to rebound from two-straight losses this week when the team travels to Florence, Ala., to take on North Alabama tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
