LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women's basketball returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, Nov. 30 as the Tigers travel to Miles College for a 5:30 p.m. tip. The two teams also have a schedule change as UWA will host the Bears on Sunday, Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. The squads were originally scheduled for Saturday.
Brittany Weathers leads the Red and White in scoring and rebounding. The Hattiesburg, Miss., native is averaging 18.6 points and 8.2 rebounds through five games this season. The marks stand among tops in the Gulf South Conference. The junior's scoring average is second in the conference while her rebounding average is sixth. Weathers has tallied a pair of double-doubles on the season.
Nikkia Jordan joins Weathers in averaging double figures with 10.2, which is 16th in the GSC.
Jamie Gunter is just under the double-digit mark with 9.4 points per game, which is in the top 20 among scorers in the conference. The Columbus, Miss., product is 10th in rebounding in the GSC with 6.0 boards per game.
Kottia White rounds out the conference performers with 3.0 assists per game, which stands fifth.
The Tigers look to snap a three-game skid and earn its first victory since Nov. 13 – an 84-69 triumph over Southern Arkansas in the Delta State hosted Lloyd Clark Classic.
Sunday's affair with Miles starts a two-game, homestand for the Red and White before the Tigers take to the road with a two-day tournament at Valdosta State before the holiday break. UWA faces Spring Hill College on Dec. 11 and then squares off with Coastal Georgia (Dec. 15) and Columbus State (Dec. 16) during the VSU Days Inn Classic.
