UWA Hoops Concludes Non-Conference Play at Montevallo

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After 15 days away from the court, the University of West Alabama women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. at Montevallo. UWA (4-6) looks to continue its three-game win streak.

The meeting is the second between the two schools this season as UM (5-5) handed the Red and White a 63-59 loss in Pensacola earlier this season. In the decision, Brittany Weathers posted double figures with 12 points to accompany her team-best eight rebounds while Nikkia Jordan led the Tigers with 15 points. West Alabama shot 41-percent from the field in the contest while the Falcons connected on 44-percent. UM hit 33-percent while the Tigers shot just 15-percent on the evening.

On the season, Weathers is averaging 15.9 points and 9.0 rebounds per outing to pace the Red and White. Jordan is also posting double figures in scoring with 10.1 per contest. Weathers currently ranks fifth in the conference in scoring and is tied for second in rebounds. Jordan sits among the GSC leaders in scoring at 19th.

A quartet of Falcons is averaging 8 or more points on the season heading into the New Year's Eve outing. Teanna Boxley and Taylor Beverly lead the way with 8.8 per contest. Tiffany McClure, who UM in scoring in the first meeting of the season, is averaging 8.6 points while Shayonne Seymore is tallying 8.2 per game. Zena Nasiloski paces the Purple and Gold on the boards with 7.7 per contest.

The game at Montevallo is the final non-conference on the slate for the Tigers. UWA opens conference play on Thursday, Jan. 5 against Alabama-Huntsville at Pruitt Hall. Tip against the Blue and White is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
