UWA Hoops Set for Conference Tilt with Lions

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After having its four-game win streak snapped on Thursday, the University of West Alabama women's basketball team looks to rebound against North Alabama. Tipoff Sunday, Jan. 7 is scheduled for 2 p.m. The game can be heard on ESPN 104.9 FM and www.uwaathletics.com.

Saturday the Tigers seek to snap a four game losing skid to their in-state foes. The Lions own the series at 31-23. The Red and White's last victory in the series came during the 2008-09 season.

Brittany Weathers leads a pair of Tigers in scoring double digits with 15.1 points per game. The Hattiesburg, Miss., native also paces the Red and White on the glass with 9.1 rebounds per game. Nikkia Jordan joins Weathers in double figures with 10.5 per game.

In the 63-55 loss to Alabama-Huntsville, Weathers paced the Red and White with 13 points while Jordan chimed in 10. The double digit effort for Jordan marked the fourth straight with seven on the season. Weathers tallied double figures nine times on the campaign. Jamie Gunter led the way on the glass with nine rebounds.

The Lions enter the weekend after having a five-game win streak cut short by West Georgia on Thursday in 67-64 decision. Jasmine Horne leads the Purple and Gold with 12.2 points per game while Dana Jackson is averaging 11.1. Nichelle Fillmore paces UNA on the glass with 7.5 rebounds per game.

Following Saturday's contest, West Alabama travels to Christian Brothers and Delta State next week beginning with a 5 p.m. start at CBU on Thursday, Jan. 12. The outing at DSU is scheduled for 4 p.m. Both contests will be carried on ESPN 104.9 FM and www.uwaathletics.com.
