FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team dropped two matches on the second day of the Nova Southeastern Crossover as the Tigers fell to Palm Beach Atlantic, 3-1, before dropping a 3-1 match to Barry University.
With the two losses, the Tigers move to 10-14 overall on the season as they head home for three-straight at Pruitt Hall. UWA faces Shorter Friday at 7 p.m. to begin the home stand.
In the first match of the day, West Alabama was able to battle back to tie the match at 1-1 with a 25-23 second-set win, before Palm Beach Atlantic ran past the Tigers in the third and fourth games to take the 3-1 triumph.
The second match was much of the same with the Tigers taking a 25-23 win in the second to tie it before falling in the final two games.
The Tigers were led on the day by sophomore
Sadie Beam's 21 kills against Palm Beach Atlantic, while senior
Chanel Davis boasted a .286 hitting percentage in the second match against Barry. UWA held Barry to a .168 percentage on the day, but hit just .059.
West Alabama will honor its three seniors on Friday as the squad takes on the Hawks on Friday evening.
