Box Score CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Lee's Josh Ball netted the game winning goal on a penalty kick in the 87th minute to defeat West Alabama men's soccer 3-2 in Gulf South Conference action on Tuesday.
"It was a battle until the end, both teams went head to head." said UWA head men's soccer coach Matthew Torne.
"To lose a game on a penalty decision is tough to take. Lee is a quality side and their record doesn't show how good of a team they are. Our lads played very well tonight and I feel a draw would have been a fair result. We will just have to get back to training tomorrow to prepare for a massive game against UAH."
Lee (5-3-3, 4-2-3) took the first lead in the 3rd minute with a high volley from Chevron Roberts; his first goal of the season.
West Alabama's (7-4-1, 4-4-1 GSC)
Thibault Charmey put the Tigers on the board with a goal in the 39th minute to tie the match 1-1 at halftime. Charmey opened the half with his seventh goal of the season in the 58th minute. Both goals came on set pieces.
Lee's Gabe Franco converted a corner kick in the 67th minute for his first goal of the year to equalize the game at 2-2. Â
