LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of West Alabama men and women's tennis teams ended a three-match road swing through Kentucky by sweeping Bellarmine Sunday at the Eddie Weber Tennis Complex.
The 37th-ranked UWA men won for the 14th straight time, 6-3, to improve its record to 20-2. The West Alabama women defeated BU, 5-4, to improve to 17-8.
Both the men and the women's team won two of three doubles matches. The UWA men won four of six singles matches, while the women split singles with the Knights.
Helga Jeske,
Emily Gerding and
Shannon McEvoy notched women's singles wins, while Jeske and McEvoy, as well as Gerding and Dash Popova won in doubles.
Anton Ivanov,
Kike Ruiz,
Adam Drysdale and
Simon Bardell were winners for UWA in men's singles.
Nestor Vargas and Ruiz, as well as
Honorio Fernandez and
Manuel Grossmann claimed doubles victories.
Both West Alabama teams close the regular season by hosting Mississippi College at the Vaughn Tennis Complex Friday at 2 p.m.
