Box Score 2 MONTICELLO, Ark. – West Alabama volleyball opened the first full day of the Hampton Inn Invitational tournament with a 3-2 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan. The Tiger's five match win streak was then snapped by a 3-2 loss to Southern Arkansas in the second match.
West Alabama (5-2) served Kentucky Wesleyan (4-1) its first loss of the season with an 18-16 score in its second fifth set of the season. Southern Arkansas (5-3) defeated the Tigers 16-14 in another fifth set; the first fifth set loss for the Tigers this year.
Morgan Ray led the Tigers on offense for the second straight match with 14 kills against Kentucky Wesleyan.
Yanesha Johnson led with 19 kills aganst Southern Arkansas.
The Tigers defense, led by
Lindsey Ball with 17 digs, overcame three Panthers who had double digit kills in the first match. Ball posted 14 more digs against the Muleriders.
Carly Wehling and
Sadie Beam notched three service aces each, matching the team's season high.
UWA will conclude the tournament against Henderson State on Saturday. The match is set for 11:30 a.m.
