Lee Downs UWA in Straight Sets

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Paula Martins, Patty Orozco and Erin Hill combined for 28 kills to lead the Lee University volleyball team to a straight set victory over West Alabama Friday at the Paul Dana Walker Arena.
 
The Lady Flames scored a 25-19, 25-22, 25-23 win to improve to 4-1. West Alabama is 6-3 and remains on the road, playing at Shorter on Saturday at 1 p.m. CDT.
 
"Lee is a tough and experienced team that brings a lot to the Gulf South Conference," UWA head coach Jordan Lay said. "We went point for point with them most of the night, but in the end, it was unforced errors that cost us.
 
"This whole season is going to be a battle for us and we have to learn to play with more discipline," Lay said. "We will learn from this and keep moving forward."
 
Elizabeth Culhane and Morgan Ray had seven kills each to lead the Tigers attack. Lindsay Ball contributed 14 digs and 22 assists, while Jessica Voyles had four blocks and a .400 hitting percentage.
