Box Score LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After rallying back from a two-set deficit to Christian Brothers, the West Alabama volleyball team fell 15-9 in the fifth set on the way to a heartbreaking 3-2 Gulf South Conference loss to the Lady Bucs Saturday at Pruitt Hall.
West Alabama (8-5, 2-2) dropped the first two sets 25-23, 25-19, but responded with 25-19, 25-21 victories in sets three and four. Christian Brothers (4-8, 2-2) posted a .273 attack percentage in set five, while holding UWA to a .071 mark.
"This was a good Christian Brothers team," UWA head coach
Jordan Lay said. "They were obviously motivated coming off of a 3-0 loss to West Florida and they got after us from the very first serve.
"We battled them in sets three and four to push them to set five, but then we began making the same mistakes we made in the first two sets," Lay said. "The lesson to take away from this is that we need to come out ready to battle from the very first ball to the last one. I am proud of how the girls responded after being down 2-0 and pushing it to five."
