LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama fell to Christian Brothers University 3-2 in Gulf South Conference volleyball action in Pruitt Hall Friday.
Christian Brothers improves to 10-8 overall and 8-5 in the GSC, while West Alabama dips to 7-11 and 6-7.
The Tigers commanded the opening set, hitting .219 and holding the Buccaneers to -.053 to take a 25-11 set victory. The Bucs responded winning sets two and three 25-22 and 25-20 respectively. UWA pushed the match into a fifth set with 25-18 rally in the fourth. CBU closed the fifth set 15-8. Â Â
West Alabama compiled the better attack percentage of .243. Christian Brothers combined to hit .181, while leading with more attack errors 28-17.
Brinsley Cooper and Alexis Gillis led the Bucs attack with combined 29 kills.
Sadie Beam led the Tigers while posting her second straight double-double with 16 kills and 13 digs.
Sam Burgess supported UWA's attack with 24 assists, closely followed by
Callie Murphy with 21.
Lindsey Ball and
Jessica Voyles led the Tigers defense. Ball totaled 22 digs and Voyles four block assists. Â
