Vitor Gazza is the Gulf South Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the period ending on Oct. 19, as announced by the GSC office on Tuesday.
Gazza marks the fourth UWA men's soccer player to earn player of the week honors this season. The Sao Paulo, Brazil native totaled two goals and two assists over two matches last week. He netted both goals and an assist in the Tiger's 5-2 victory over Spring Hill College on Friday, while adding an assist against West Florida Sunday.
The senior leads the team and is second in the conference with five assists. He is second on the squad with five goals this season. Gazza now owns 18 career goals and 13 career assists.
With two regular season matches remaining, West Alabama has already secured a place in the GSC Tournament. The Tigers currently sit in third place at 5-3 in the league and 8-6 overall.
UWA begins its final home stretch against non-conference opponent Cumberland Sunday at 1 p.m. The regular season will close with nationally ranked No. 24 Alabama Huntsville on Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. Both matches will be in Tiger Stadium.
