Nicki Gears to lead women's soccer to 2-1 victory over Queens University of Charlotte in the Clayton State Invitational Saturday.
The win wraps up a three match road stretch and improves UWA to 2-1 overall. Queens University of Charlotte falls to 1-3.
Nicola Gibson scored on a header from a free kick taken by
Mara DeLuca to put the Tigers up 1-0 at halftime. Gibson and Morris now have two goals in two matches.
The Royal's Kelli Gottry tied the match back in the 73
rd minute.
Morris' goal was her second game-winner of her career; seventh score overall.
"We are delighted for the ladies tonight," said UWA head coach
Graeme Orr. "We fought hard every first and second ball we competed for and showed great composure to defeat a quality side."
The Tigers will open their home schedule on Thursday when they host Auburn Montgomery at 7 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.
