LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team will open its home season against Shorter University Friday at 7 p.m. To welcome back the Tiger fans to Pruitt Hall the UWA athletic department will give away free hot dogs to the first 100 fans to the game as well as free t-shirts and other UWA volleyball gear during the match.

A $100 gift certificate to Collins Communications Radio Shack of Demopolis will also be given away to a lucky fan in attendance.

UWA's home opener after a 3-1 start in the Gulf South Conference; 3-5 overall. The Tigers come off of a thrilling 3-2 win over West Georgia on Tuesday that set them tied for third in the league. Shorter enters the match 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the GSC; tied for first.
 
This year's squad features four seniors that include middle blocker's Jessica Voyles, Elizabeth Culhane, outside hitter Sadie Beam and defensive specialist Lindsey Ball.

The home opener will give fans their first look at eight new faces for UWA. Freshmen Sydney Lerille and Briana Sandifer were each named 2014 Top Newcomers to the GSC and lead a recruiting class of all seven freshman and one junior transfer.
