LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama women soccer's win streak survived with a 2-1 victory over Mississippi College in Gulf South Conference action at Tiger Stadium Sunday. The Tigers have won their last seven matches.
West Alabama improves to 7-1 overall and now sit on top of the GSC standings at 2-0. Mississippi College falls to 5-3 and 1-2.
"We knew Mississippi College would be a physical battle for us," said UWA head women's soccer coach
Graeme Orr.
"I can't give our girls enough credit we came into today's game off of five games in 11 days and everyone worked their socks off. We were determined to get the result we wanted. We had to grind it out at times, but that's what you have to do at this point in the season."
Katy Morris put UWA on the board in the 15
th minute with an unassisted goal; her third of the season.
Nicola Gibson extended the lead to 2-0 in the 26
th minute with her fourth score this year, unassisted.
The Choctaws responded with a goal from Caitlin Hayes at the 32:03 mark. Kaitlyn Kiss tallied the assist.

Issy Foster (5-1) faced six shots and made four saves to get the win. Robin Cooper (5-2) took the loss for MC making two saves on four shots faced.
