Reilly Lifts Tigers to 1-0 Win with Sixth Game-Winner

LIVINGSTON, Ala. –Kirsten Reilly led West Alabama women's soccer to victory with her fifth game-winning goal in six matches, scoring with 12 minutes left in regulation play to lift the Tigers to a 1-0 victory over Spring Hill College at Tiger Stadium on Friday.

The No. 23 team in the nation, West Alabama, improves to 9-3 overall and remains tied with Lee University as the top team in the GSC at 7-1. Spring Hill drops to 1-8-3 and 1-7-1.

"We struggled a little bit with our quality in front of the goal tonight," said UWA head coach Graeme Orr.

"We lost too many individual battles in the midfield and fifty-fifty opportunities, but Kirsten was able to make a fantastic finish late like she's been doing all season. Credit to Spring Hill, though, they battled very hard and are doing a great job to compete at this level. We just have to make sure that we are showing a little bit better quality here late in the year than we did at the start of the season."

Reilly's goal came by way of freshman Beth Preston's first assist of the season. Reilly leads the team with eight total goals and six total game-winners.

Although unable to score, the Tigers controlled much of the first half out-shooting the Badgers 7-0. Spring Hill responded with five shots in the second half, while UWA scored with only four total shots taken.

Issy Foster (9-3) picked up her sixth shutout of the season and is now one shutout away from matching her single season best, which she set as a freshman in 2013. She finished the match with two saves. Maggie Dalessio (1-8-3) completed six saves to take the loss.

West Alabama women's soccer returns to action on Sunday as it plays host to West Florida. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.
