BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – West Alabama sophomore outside hitter
Briana Sandifer was named to the All-Gulf South Conference First Team on Monday as voted on by league coaches.
Sandifer, a native of Huntsville, Ala., has totaled 10 double-doubles this season. She has led UWA with 328 kills, while tallying 260 digs and 61 total blocks on defense. She set her career high of 23 kills and seven blocks against Alabama Huntsville on Oct. 6.
She was named to the Boca Raton Invitational All-Tournament team to open the season, combining for 37 kills and 29 digs through the three-match tournament. On Saturday, Sandifer helped the Tigers clinch a seat in the GSC Tournament with her career best 18 digs against Union.
Sixth seed West Alabama will face the third seed, Valdosta State, in the first round of the conference tournament on Tuesday. The match is set for 5 p.m. in Valdosta, Ga.
