PENSACOLA, Fla. – West Florida jumped out to a 23-point lead by halftime and never looked back on the way to an 86-56 Gulf South Conference women's basketball win over West Alabama Saturday at the UWF Fieldhouse.
West Florida improved to 18-7 overall and 14-6 in the league. West Alabama lost for the sixth straight time and dropped to 10-15 and 7-14.
Jasmine Wigfall and Katie Bobos both had double-doubles for the Lady Argos. Wigfall finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Bobos chipped in 13 points and 10 boards.
West Florida shot 32-of-71 (45 percent) from the field and outrebounded West Alabama 44-27. The Lady Argos collected 17 offensive rebounds and scored 17 second chance points.
Latisha McCullum led West Alabama scoring with 11 points, while Brittany Jones chipped in a career-high 10 points. The Tigers shot just 35 percent from the field (20- 57). Jones had seven rebounds for UWA.
West Alabama closes its regular season at West Georgia on Thursday. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. CST.
